About John

John was born in Toledo Ohio in 1965 and raised in Monroe County Michigan. He graduated from Ida High School in 1983, and had an extended adolescence that ended at the age of 24 when he found himself at Jackson State Prison. John turned to classical literature to help him pass the time while incarcerated. He went on to study Russian literature and eventually immersed himself in the anarchist tradition and classical philosophy. Recieving an Associates degree in liberal arts from Monroe County Community College in 1991, John became active in environmental activism. Focusing on issues close to home, he built upon the Alinsky model and that of the Yippies to help forge a new activism for the dawning millennium. In 1996 he was asked to move to California to work on a voter initiative. After winning that election, John decided to stay in California where he has developed a love affair with that state's natural treasures. He worked for a medical doctor as office manager, general manager, and network administrator from 1997 to the doctor's death in May 2007.  Since then John has been in business running a medical practice with his partners. John currently lives in Berkeley with his dogs, where they study ancient philosophy and yearn for a bright free future.
